In times of doom, hope is the sharpest blade
-
I was born in New Jersey and studied Studio Art at Hunter College (City University of New York). I spent a few years working in the archives of the Black Star photo agency, assisted world renowned Humanist / Documentary / Brooklyn photographer, Joseph Rodriguez and interned at Sergio Purtell’s renowned B&W photography lab, Black and White on White.
My work explores relationships and the different ways we cope to get by. For over a quarter century I’ve been photographing the places and people in my life from New York to Seattle to New Orleans and back to Seattle. In 2002 I started making zines and artist books, both self-published and working with many celebrated independent publishers such as Hamburger Eyes and The Photocopy Club.
My photography has been exhibited at The Association of Photographers gallery, London; Foto Fest Biennial, Houston; Home Space gallery, New Orleans; GET THIS gallery, Atlanta; Permanent gallery, Brighton; Solas gallery, Seattle; Hedreen gallery, Seattle, and The Hole gallery, NYC, among others.

Chief Sealth Trail (Seattle city light transmission right-of-way), South Beacon Hill, Seattle, 2018 / From the series “Pausok”

My images are particularly attuned to storytelling - owing to my route of survival. With every stone turned on the path of becoming my genuine self, my work has been shaped by the crossroads of desire, labor, the sincerity within fantasy, and the illusions of true love.
At the core of my practice is my "fruits basket"—the act of capturing the realities of my experience and maintaining the ability to collect and share. The fruit serves as a glance into my relationships with intersectional experiences of vanity, commodification, and societal expectations, all within the context of a patriarchal, capitalist world
I aim to protect the communities I serve, as a participant in that same matter—highlighting the nature of the human spirit, resilience, and the complexity of love and survival.
For 9 years, I documented my life as a sex worker, starting my career as a dancer at 18 and receiving my first film camera at 19.
I am currently an artist in residence at Actualize Space, located in the heart of downtown Seattle.
